History Exploration Days: Made in St. Louis

In honor of 314 Day, celebrate the people, products, art, music, and culture made right here in St. Louis.

This month, students will:

  • Explore people, products, and ideas that were made in St. Louis with engaging activities and thoughtful questions.
  • Reflect on trade, immigration, and the global stories behind what we eat.
  • Explore profiles of Missouri inventors, examine patent models from our online collection, and jump into the maker space with a variety  of materials to design and build your own invention.

Storytelling: “I Love STL” | 10:30–11:15am | MacDermott Grand Hall (Friday, 3/13 Only)

March 14 is 314 Day, a day to celebrate everything St. Louis, so let’s read books about our city! American Sign Language interpretation will be provided by DEAF Inc.

Cuentos en el Museo: Amo STL / I Love STL | 10:30–11:15am | History Clubhouse (Saturday, 3/14 Only)

El 14 de marzo es el día 314, un día para celebrar todo lo relacionado con St. Louis, ¡así que leamos libros sobre nuestra ciudad!
March is 314 Day, a day to celebrate everything St. Louis, so let’s read books about our city!

Dance Party! | 11:15am–1:00pm | Karen Goering Classroom

Turn up the energy with a dance party inspired by the St. Louis Sound exhibit and other St. Louis musicians, celebrating the city’s creativity through music and movement.

Drop-In Events

Making History: Craft Room | 10am–1pm | AT&T Room (Friday); Loggia (Saturday)

Cut, paste, and remix STL style! Stop by our Craft Room to create collages inspired by people and things made in St. Louis.

Create your very own custom shoe while drawing inspiration from iconic local shoe companies that once called St. Louis home.

Inventor’s Workroom: Open Play | 10am–1pm | Schnucks Classroom

Step into an inventor’s space! Explore profiles of Missouri inventors, examine patent images from our online collection, and jump into the maker space with a variety of materials to design and build your own invention.

Touch Table | 10am–1pm | MacDermott Grand Hall

Discover foods made in STL where the ingredients come from. This interactive table invites families to think about trade, immigration, and the global stories behind what we eat.

Gallery Adventure | 10am–1pm | All galleries

Go on a self-guided scavenger hunt through the galleries to discover products made in St. Louis. Finish your quest by adding your voice to our community board with the big question: What should STL make in the future?

Pop-Up Tours | 10am–1pm | All galleries

Join us for special pop-up tours! From things made right here in our city to stories of problem-solving and progress, each tour connects the past to the present through highlights from our 1904 World’s FairMill Creek: Black Metropolis, and Made in St. Louis exhibit.
